Southbank Centre and Amazing Radio’s Ruth Barnes present new and upcoming artists in the Purcell Room at Queen Elizabeth Hall.
Hannah’s debut EP Silent Type, released in November 2014, marked the first public airing after her previous project Foe disbanded two years ago.
Hannah has since been deservedly lauded by the likes of NME and Clash Magazine, and championed by the likes of Drowned in Sound as an artist to watch in 2015.
‘From it’s opening drum machine thud and flicker of guitar to its lullaby-like closer ‘My Game’, Silent Type is more assured and sublime” (NME)
This independent London-based five-piece create fiercely beautiful song-based soundscapes. On their return to Southbank Centre, Madam showcase tracks from their third album Back to the Sea, released later this year.
**** ‘Compellingly gritty and haunting’ (Q Magazine)
**** ‘A real find’ (The Guardian)
**** ‘A rare ability to combine the smoky nocturnal atmospherics conjured by PJ Harvey, Portishead or the Velvet Underground with a pop sensibility’ (The Independent)
Patrick O’Laoghaire, aka I Have A Tribe, had a busy 2013. He spent the year recording his debut EP with Rob Ellis and Conor O’Brien of Villagers, touring Europe with Anna Calvi, opening for Villagers’ Irish homecoming show and performing at Electric Picnic and CMJ in New York.
I Have A Tribe’s blend of plaintive pop and folk-tinged melancholia has never been more evident than on the spellbinding ‘Monsoon’ and lead track ‘Yellow Raincoats’.
‘We just want to hear more of his music’ (The Line Of Best Fit)
